Sidewalk, Curb, and Driveway Permits
The Village of Versailles will require anyone making repairs to or pouring of new sidewalks, driveway approaches, curb, or gutter in public right-of-way to complete a permit application prior to performing any such work.
The purpose of these permits is to allow for monitoring of the quality of work that is being completed when repairs and improvements are made in addition to keeping a written record of such work. There is no fee for the permit. Currently, the Village has specifications regarding concrete thickness, width, and composition of the concrete used for these repairs and/or improvements.
The permit application will need to be completed by the property owner or contractor and submitted to the Village Administration Office. Work may begin once the application form is returned by the Village Inspector to the applicant. Once the forms are inspected and signed off on by the Village Inspector, the application becomes your permit.
A final inspection will be performed by the Village Inspector after the pour to inspect the finished product. Once the final inspection is signed off on, the permit will be closed and filed at the Village Administrative Office. Failure to file for a permit or schedule the appropriate inspections may result in any concrete work performed being removed and reconstructed at the owner and/or contractor’s expense.
Street Opening Permit
The Village of Versailles requires a Street Opening Permit per Ordinance No. 16-31 for any contractor or non-Village utility to perform any opening through, undermining or removal of any pavement or surface in any of the public streets, alleys, or other public grounds. The contractor or non-Village utility that is performing the work must fill out a provided permit application prior to any work commencing. In addition to the permit application, a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) application fee is charged as well as charges that are established per Village Ordinance 16-31 based on the street opening size(s) and street age. The contractor or non-Village utility must be bonded and insured in the State of Ohio in order to make any cuts, openings, and/or pavement removal or replacement within a public street, alley, or other public grounds. All excavation backfill, asphalt repair, concrete repair, restoration work, and other related activities must be performed in accordance per the most current Village Construction Specifications.
